Korea Blockchain Week, held last month in Seoul, was inspiring. Of course just being back in South Korea was inspiring. This whole nation seems focused on the future, as does much of the rest of Asia. What does it say when lists of the world’s most beautiful airports invariably include Seoul’s Incheon, as well as airports of Singapore, Hong Kong, and China?
Seattle, Washington — August 8, 2018 — Atonomi, the blockchain-based arm of leading IoT security provider CENTRI Technology, has announced the appointment of seasoned technology and business leader Robert “Rob” Strickland to the role of CEO for both companies.
We have received a number of questions from the community over Telegram this past week. Here's our latest list of FAQs.
With the recent release of our Atonomi tokens (ATMI), and our earlier release of the Atonomi Embedded SDK and smart contracts, the Atonomi Network is now operational on the Ethereum mainnet with full functionality. We’re extremely excited to see how developers will use the Atonomi Network to bring trust and identity to the IoT. To kick things off, we’ve created the Atonomi Developer Incentive Program.
The ATMI token was unlocked and released to cleared buyers on Thursday July 12th at 2pm UTC, after we completed the final security and audit tasks to clear the tokens for release. IoT solution developers and users of the Atonomi Network will be able to use the ATMI token to register and activate IoT devices through the Atonomi Identity Registry Network.
The sale is now closed. We sold approximately 133m tokens to our pre-cleared purchasers and received 14,000 ETH in this public sale. We had 14,300 customers buy our tokens and we are so very appreciative of your belief in the power of securing the IoT with the Atonomi Network.
I would like to provide an update regarding the Atonomi Network to those customers who passed our KYC process and are currently on our whitelist. Congratulations! We have been and continue to be deeply appreciative of the global support for the project. Our team has invested significant resources in developing a robust, functional version of the Atonomi Network for full deployment soon.
Seattle, Washington — May 17, 2018 — Atonomi, the blockchain-based arm of leading IoT security provider CENTRI Technology, has announced the official beta launch of the Atonomi Network. Once fully tested and deployed, the Atonomi Network is intended to be the first blockchain-enabled security protocol to provide device registration, activation, validation, and reputation to secure the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT).
The Atonomi whitelist is now closed. We are now processing the applications in the order received and working to clear as many people as possible before the public sale. Frequently asked questions with answers below...
The high demand at the time the whitelist sign-up was initially opened caused the systems to become overloaded. Not all requests processed completely. We apologize for any inconvenience. To ensure the accuracy of our process, we paused the systems to implement essential changes. Please note, only a limited number of requests can be cleared through our KYC process at a time.
The world needs a robust software-based security solution to protect the Internet of Things (IoT) in order to extend protection beyond only those devices with chip-based security.
We’ve written before about blockchain, the new darling of the cybersecurity world. For the uninitiated, it functions as a decentralized database operating in a large-scale, peer-to-peer fashion that auto-encrypts all of the information in its files as they are updated. At time of writing, no hacker has managed to crack it; thus cybersecurity companies are intensely researching the technology for how it can bolster their platforms.
The world is rightfully excited about the potential of blockchain — the development of which some have compared to the advent of the internet. This decentralized, immutable record will soon allow us to safely conduct a variety of different transactions from virtually anywhere in the world — like a digital ledger in the sky.
The future is fast approaching in the form of smart cities. But at the same time, a global horde of hackers are close behind, ready to exploit the weakest links. Smart cities can reduce resource consumption, using IoT devices to optimize the use of electricity and water; reduce traffic congestion and air pollution through smart coordination of traffic lights, parking availability, and public transportation...
It’s quite common to hear that blockchain technology is the biggest thing to happen to the world of computers since the creation of the Internet. And I agree. But perhaps a better analogy was provided in an article I recently read...
Sir Isaac Newton, the British genius who first proposed the laws of motion in the 1687 release of his three-volume work Principia, acknowledged the work of his predecessors when he wrote: “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”
The great physicist Albert Einstein once said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” This makes me think that Einstein would have been a big proponent of extensibility had he ever written code – as opposed to his awesome decoding of the universe.
A phrase that we hear more and more about the Internet of Things is that we will soon have “billions of devices engaging in trillions of transactions.”
Seattle, Washington – January 15, 2018 – Atonomi, the blockchain-based arm of leading IoT security provider CENTRI Technology, has today announced that Swytch, a renewable energy incentive platform built on the blockchain, will be the first organization to pilot the Atonomi Network...
While I wish him a long and productive career in his field of electrical and computer engineering, Andrew Miller, Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, has already achieved fame for a simple tweet...
Money pours into IoT/IIoT technology. Security and ROI are leading topics. Hear from Atonomi CEO Vaughan Emery on the subject. By Jeff Dorsch, Semiconductor Engineering
Well, 2018 is certainly off to a fast start, at least within the world of IoT security. Last week I wrote about my one one-word advice: “I have one word for you: Blockchain.”
Blind spots must be considered with blockchain. When a new technology like blockchain comes around, it’s easy to overlook the impact it can have far beyond its intended use. Much of this is the result of our tendency to perceive the future too much through the lens of the past, a hallmark of skeuomorphic design.
T’is the season for watching classic movies. And one classic that has been coming to mind is “The Graduate” – the 1967 Oscar winning flick that gave birth to Dustin Hoffman’s career, produced the hit Simon & Garfunkel song “Mrs. Robinson” and launched an ironic meme before there were memes.
There’s no joy in writing this blog. I’ve spent the night searching for the latest news about the Triton malware that’s been discovered in an – at this point unnamed – industrial plant believed to be located in the Middle East, perhaps Saudi Arabia, according to Reuters.
Automation is flowing into our lives so persistently and quietly that we hardly notice. Gone are the folded maps in the glove compartment. Now it’s click on your navigation app, and dutifully follow directions – maybe feeling a twinge of guilt when you ignore the spoken command to take a short cut of your own...
